My husband dives with the Datamax Pro Plus 2 and loves it. He finds it extremely easy to use and it gives him all the information he could ever want. The only negative would be the download software....it's pretty lame.

Personally I find his computer to be too large, which is why I dive with an Aeris AI, though next time I see myself going hoseless for an even smaller profile. ;)

I have a DataMax Pro Plus . . . my wife has a DataMax Pro Plus 2 . . . she won't swap with me . . . . . waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! :17:

She got the Pro Plus 2 and loves it and the main reason is because the charactors are very large and easy to read. Does everything she's needed. Solid as a brick. Yeah, the software isn't the sharpest pencil in the drawer but it works. Looks like it was written 10 years ago by an avid mountain climber.

I got the VT Pro, hoseless. Frequently I wish I have gone with the ProPlus2 too.

We have 2 Pro Plus 2s and they have been very reliable and work well for us. Mine has taken a fair amount of abuse and is working fine. Just make sure you always have a back up battery since it is not something you can buy at the 7-11.

when I went shopping for a new computer, but it was the size of the display that won me over. I'm a few years older than you (not that many, honestly!), but the needle on my SPG was getting increasingly hard to see. The Pro Plus II has that going for it...

I had one (until I switched over to the Atom) and loved it. Very large screen, easy to see even at just a glance, all the info you need is right there in front of you. The AI is a very nice feature, quick disconnect is a must. Easy to use and operate above and below water. Very nice unit.

I did that, too, so I wouldn't be stuck in the middle of nowhere but the darn thing just won't die!

I agree, this is a very fine computer especially for eyes of a certain age. It is nice having everything right there. It is very easy to program. The quick release is reliable but hose should be a few inches longer for me. The sampling rate for rate of ascent does seem too low for meaningful accuracy.

I like everything else about it but for some reason I could never figure out how to fine tune the audible alarms to just warn of the important stuff. So I just turned everything off. Everybody is happy now.

I see them all the time. It seems like someone with be using one nearly ever dive trip I'm on.

That should tell you something.

I bought a used one from someone on the board for my wife. A very good deal, but it failed on the second dive she used it. We just shipped it off to Oceanic for a complete overhaul. $120 for the overhaul. Still a good deal. Donna likes the big numbers on the display.
