I recently dove on a vacation in St. Maartin - will give full report later. Good news - had a great time. Bad news - somebody stole my reg setup and C8 LED primary light while my bag was in transit. :(

I was happy with my recently stolen Oceanic Sport 8 and am considering moving up to the Oceanic OMEGA II/CDX5 Reg. I really like the idea of a side exhaust.

Does anybody have any experience and/or advice about this reg?

Thanks,

Michael

I love my Omega's, I currently have an older balanced piston first stage with 2 omegas as my single tank reg, and I have 2 OmegaII/CDX5's that are going to be used for deco/stage bottles when I take my deco procedures course. They breathe very smoothly, and perform consistently from surface to depth. The only thing I will warn you about is that they are known as a wet breather. I dive freshwater so I dont care, but I have had mine in Cuba, and the salt was noticeable, at least for someone who never dives in the ocean. That can somewhat be accomodated for by tilting the mouthpiece a hair, so the exhaust is lower. Long story short, I love mine, and being side exhaust they are perfect for slung bottles.

I too dive side exhaust regs...Vipers. They are a "wet" breather too. Not much but you can notice it. I think it's just a thing with all side exhaust regs.
