I purchased an Oceanic Delta four last year to replace my aging Scubab Pros and have been very happy with the unit so far.

I have notied that at low tank pressure (300lb or lower ) by breathing sharply I can force the ADV to close. My pressure gauge will read 0 breifly ( 1-2 seconds) and then it will open back up and read tank pressure and again deliver air. By breathing slowly the unit will continue to deliver air at these low pressures.

I first noticed this on the surface after a dive, and have confirmed that this occurs in the water as well.

Is this typical for these regulators or is my unit out of adjustment?

I think your just seeing the pressure drop from all the restrictions in the tank valve and regulator body. I don't think the DVT is closing. It only takes a few PSI to open it.

The lowest I have ever had a tank was 400 and I did not have any problems.

I would assume that the dvt "pin" takes maybe 2-5lbs of force to open at the very most (with my fingers) I am not sure how it would hold..

If the pressure drops as you inhale, its not likely that the DVT would close during inhalation.
