Hi, I am most likely going to order a Oceanic Pro Plus 1.0 and I am wondering how the software is for it? Thanks.

I haven’t used the Pro Plus software (the latest is v2.0.5 available from http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/services_software.html) but from my experience with the Oceanic Atom’s OceanLog and from reading various threads on this board concerning Oceanic softwares in general, I’d say that it will be highly likely that it will suck big time.

You will also find that you have to use a Serial IR cable to download data from your Pro Plus to your PC. With the Pro Plus 2 (software v 1.0.4), you have a choice between a Serial Direct-Connect or USB Direct-Connect cable.

The serial IR cable and software for the older Aeris and Oceanic won't work too well with XP. I guess XP did some change on how it communicates throught he serial port - and it made it to where the operating system can no longer access the data through that setup... Really suggest you move up to the newer versions of the computers from Aeris and Oceanic, which then will also give you water activation, safety stop count down timer, and more...
