I'm currently using an Oceanic Alpha7 reg (the first stage is a CDX-5 I think). It's about 5-6 years old and in excellent condition, always having been cared for and cleaned properly. Here's my problem: it breathes very wet. I used to have this problem only when I would turn inverted or vertical head facing down. Now it just breathes wet all the time. With every breath I can hear the air gurgling through water and I always get at least a little water in my mouth.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this? I recently had my regs serviced, but they didn't do an overhaul. Perhaps that's what it needs. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks.

My first thought is to check the condition of the exhaust valves.

If they are going, you get a wet breathe.

The Alpha 7 is a great Reg. with no history of being a wet breather. I would recommend taking it by your local Authorized Oceanic Dealer for an inspection, or service if it has been more than a year since its last.

If it has been serviced recently, check the mouthpiece for a tightly attached zip tie, and/or for small cuts or tears on the mouthpiece where it attaches to the 2nd stage.

The dive shop can also check the exhaust valve, and the inhalation diaphragm for brittleness and/or rips/tears.
