I've been diving the Delta 3/DX4 for about 5 years now and its all in 33 - 55 degree water. It performs very well, never had a freeze-up/free-flow. If I had to upgrade, it would be the Delta 4/FDX 10.

Well, my 2 cents may not be that applicable here cause I only use my Alpha 8 for warm water diving... been using it for a year and have no problems with it.... Only problem I have is that the reg gets a bit "wet" when I hover upside down. Since I am still a noob *blush* with about 30 logged dives, I am not sure if it's a normal thing with regs getting "wet" when I am upside down.... The Alpha 8 is the only reg I have used since my OW and AOW and have nothing to compare to....

Cerich:
In particular with a cold air temp. If you only dive New England in the summer with water temps in the 40's, that is not COLD, spring/fall with 30's air temps and 30's water temps and the PX3 will freeze unless you use very good technique.

Cerich, do these guidelines also apply to the Alpha 8 Sport/SP-5 setup?

The SP5 is more resistant to cold than the PX3. Still not a 'cold water reg" however.

Understood. Still sounds like an excellent choice for me, though, and still planning on purchasing it next month.
