I'll replace my own damned o-ring. Then tell the DM to keep his hands off my kit.:D

Interesting. What if he insisted on checking your gear as a condition of diving off his boat? After all, he could be held responsible if you screwed something up and he didn't catch it.

And why use your own o-ring when you're already paying to rent theirs?

It was a tongue in cheek remark aimed at those who get all riled up when someone offers to help. Hence the smiley on the end.

Sorry, I see that particular smiley as a malicious grin. They should get someone else to pose for their smileys IMO!

They took  away. FYI it was intended as a silly grin, not malicious at all. is this better?:)

Yes, much sillier!

Jeremy actually gets annoyed when I monkey with my own gear, even when I have to re-right the reg that they always insist on placing upside down. He's a very easy-going guy in general, but during his dive briefings I think he likes the sound of his own voice. Interruptions are poorly tolerated. His glare alone can probably kill lionfish.

Weird. The very FEW times I have touched my gear, one of them usually comes by, gives me the idiot look, tells me I put it on the tank upside down and fixes it. Occasionally, they tell me to take of my hat and sunglasses and get my mask....

I also interrupt as well, but it is more well tolerated. Except the missus, who tells me to shut up.

My new thing to do with new divers on the boat is to ask, "Why is (insert reef name) called that." She then has to tell the assorted stories behind the names. The newbies like it I think. Probably only the newbies.....

That smile you see may be that of a person who is humoring you...just waiting to make their escape.
