I built an El Cheapo. I believe the sensor has gone bad, and decided to get the Analox rather than replace the sensor. I like not having to connect up the sensor while on-board a boat. If anyone does build an El Cheapo, spring for the 10 turn potentiometer upgrade. As said earlier the basic pot is very sensitive and hard to dial in precisely. You will need better than average soldering skills, a low watt soldering pencil, a solder sucker or copper braid, small diameter heat shrink, and a dremel to cut the hobby box cleanly. I used a hot glue gun to coat each solder connection for corrosion and shock resistance.
DA Aquamaster posted a price of $185 for the deluxe kit. The Analox was $224 from Ebay.
