By the time it would take me to drive from Manhattan to CT or LI to dive, I could be in South Florida or almost Cozumel.

Something about staring at the east river all day from my office makes the thought of diving around here the least bit interesting!

Hello all,

Newb to the board here! Got my OW certification in Summer 2016 and AOW this past summer. Have logged around 25 dives--all in relatively warm water (Fiji, Australia, Greece, and most recently Catalina Island, CA). I'm based in NYC, though, and definitely interested in taking advantage of whatever dive opportunities are available near here. I'm aware of Dutch Springs out in PA, as well as some of the vessels that go out to the wrecks in Jersey, but that's about it. Any NYC area dive fanatics on this board with good intel on the options for a buddy-less diver around these parts? (Tried to get my wife into scuba--she tried it and said, "nah dawg.")

I dived there last summer (and from the boat ramp before the nice entry built at MaCrearie Park). It was certainly very convenient. I saw a flounder or two, and a mess of big Spider Crabs. OK, but not for a shell collector like me. I may do it again, I spite of GSP summer traffic.
