So, not a great photo, but we came across these little guys in the Salad Bowl at Vets this morning. Can anyone ID them?

Brown horned dorids! Aren't they fun?

Find it here on the Sea Slug Forum

Good eyes and a lovely find.

Thanks! Couldn't find 'em on Ken's Slugjunkie cards. Yeah, they are fun, but then so are all Nudies!

This is a very rare find!! Only a few of us have spotted these guys and normally they are in deeper waters like 85-110.

What day was this and what was the depth?

This was Saturday Sept. 4 around 10:15 am. Depth was around 65fsw, maybe as shallow as 60fsw. We were poking around in the Salad Bowl, we found them just outside the grassy area to the south. I also must admit that I didn't actually spot them, that would be Lisa one of my buddies! Not much gets past her.

That's a nude one on me... I see plenty of other Acanthodoris in deeper water off Catalina, but I don't ever remember seeing this one. Of course my eyes are nowhere near as sharp as Claudette's... more like the Hubble Space Telescope before the fix.

I've seen many, many of these at Vets. Of all the times we've seen them (has to be a dozen or more) I've had my camera ONE of those times - and the shot came out a little, uh, er, bad.

So I don't have this guy on the cards. Its so lame, because he's so RIGHT there at my back door, and we see him regularly.

There are probably three slimers that didn't make it onto this first series of cards only because I don't have shots I think are good enough to use for ID shots, and Brown Dorid is one of them.

Another silly thing: I've never, NEVER seen one while on the trigger. These guys are camo'd so well I've only seen them while we're kick diving.

Nice find, buddy.
