I'd like to get in a couple more night dives this month before it starts getting colder and sunset gets much earlier. I plan to go to Nubble next Wednesday for a long 1 tank dive - conditions permitting - and am looking to get others interested. If you're in the area that night you're welcome to join me and whomever else I can get together. Some of us like to dive independent [solo] at night [but as a tight group]. So, if you don't have a buddy, and you can deal with the dark, you're still welcome. I get out of work at 5 and it takes me over an hour to get there so splash time for me is 6:30-6:45 ish. Sunset is at 6:55 and low is at 7:25....Joe

I will try to be there. Night diving is my favorite type of diving and the season is coming to an end, god I have to find a way to get there.

Hi Andy - the latest conditions are looking good for Wednesday night. I hope you can make it. So far I have 1 positive response from my NH dive club and 2 from the Maine club. Hopefully there will be a little group of us there. I don't mind diving in the dark by myself but it is a little lonely without someone to share the experience with. Hope to see you there. Splash a little after 6:30. My cell is 603.540.6459. I get out of work at 5 and will be on the road to Nubble then unless there are severe T-storms in the ocean area.

Thanks for planning the dive. What a great way to spend an evening. I had a great time and it was nice to meet everyone. That was the biggest pair of lobsta I have seen while diving. Scott

Thanks Aqua-Andy, Scott and petrieps for a great dive tonight. We also had 2 of us from the NH club [and Tim's brother] and Wayne from the Maine club for a total of 7. The conditions were guite unusual tonight. The best night dive I think I have ever had there. Ocean was very kind to us. I think the viz must have been at least 20' and better[30???]. My max depth was 40' max and no thermo that I noticed - that's king of unusual when I think about it. Lots of little fishies, tons of lobster, quite a few crabs, very little sediment in the water column. Regretfully no squid or torpedo rays. Saw the big red anemone against the island side. For anyone interested we splashed about 7 and got out a little after 8 to an almost full moon rising over the lighthouse island. The dive plan was Due N 300' from the mooring ball, then due E 200' to the island, we went N and E to the tip of the island at the sand bottom and then turned around and returned to the entry/exit point eventually. I hated to leave.:( Hope all of you got home safe and sound. Looking forward to another dive in the near future.....................Joe

Nice report O.F. Great news about the Vis. If the nubble was in R.I. you guys would be eatin Lobster tonight:D

The diving was great. Night diving sure does make for a long day. It was nearly midnight by the time I got back to Mass and had my gear rinsed, but it's always worth it. The conditions were as good as they get, I just hope the weather holds out for a sunrise dive in Magnolia this Sunday.

Petrieps...You doing the half hour before sunrise thing for Bugs?

Hey Porgy, The bug hunting is part of it, it's always nice to get em while their still out. But the main reason is I like to dive as often as possible, way more often than my wife wants me to. She doesn't have the same feelings about the ocean that I do. Diving at sunrise allows me to get home at a decent hour and doesn't cause any friction. So if it means getting up at 4 or 5 in the morning to do what I love I'm fine with it. Come on up.
