doesn't matter at all. i'd recommend staying away from the political agencies altogether

Where to go...............? I have yet to find one that isn't ravished by political infighting, inbreeding and sibling killings that would make Shakespeare envious.

good point
draw a name out of a hat and just go diving. it's all about the instructor with those agencies anyway

Again, it's not about the agency. Most of us teach through multiple agencies anyway. There are very small differences in standards among the agencies. I have put together courses that include the skill sets from all the agencies I teach for so that I don't have to change my course dependent on the card I'm issuing. It makes it much easier for me to teach the same course and my students get a little more out of the courses. As for "gold standard", there really isn't one. A cave card is a cave card. Most of the international locations you travel to for cave diving are going to recognize all the major agencies (IANTD, NACD, NSS-CDS, PSAI, TDI, etc.) if they even ask for a card. And you will likely only travel to any other locations where it might be an issue by invitation only. If you want, you can even get cards from multiple agencies if the instructor you choose can teach for those agencies. I got both NACD and NSS-CDS full cave cards.

Contact several instructors and discuss the courses they offer. Figure out what is important to you in a course and make sure it's also important to the instructor you choose. I also recommend finding an instructor who is out there diving the caves outside of class. It might not be easy, or possible, to confirm this, but there are a few instructors out there that only dive caves when they are teaching. Steer clear of them.

Good luck in your search!
