what about a nice bright red diver down flag ,as well as a safety sausage, dye markers, signal mirrors ,signal horn, ect ect, most of your bcd will be submerged anyway and it will be very difficult for the coast guard ,to look for someone lost in the ocean just, wearing a bright bcd.some of the new models are black but have reflectors on it.peace

You forgot flares and smoke... :scared:

I need to replace a BC and I think black is a dangerous color. I want to be in something bright if I find my self " lost at sea ". You don't see black PFDs in the boat stores. My life is more important than some dive shops inventory control. Do you know of any thing that is " NOT BLACK " !!??
Zeagle Ranger BCDs (only standard Rangers and not the Ranger LTD) are available with different colored bladder covers.

I have seen a few BCD's with SOLAS reflective material sewn on the shoulders. Nice idea, I doubt it would do the trick.

I think that the large red/orange safety sausage that is the size of an elephants butt is better than the color issue of the BCD.

Put a strip of SOLAS tape on your fins too. Holding a fin up and out of the water would help. For that matter use hot pink fins. (boy, are they a "glowing" photographers nightmare). Again, I don't think this is the best idea, but it isn't a bad idea either. Sometimes odd thoughts fester into good ideas.

Good luck

Matthew

Deep Outdoors makes wings in blue, yellow, and bright obnoxious orange that can be used with their Matrix Harness for feel of a normal rear inflate bcd.

The color of the BCD will make little difference since it is so small and most of it is underwater. A hood with reflective tape will make more difference.

The sausage works well for being seen by boats. A couple of dye markers will do wonders for being seen by aircraft.

I have a hot pink Tusa Imprex. Personally, I would prefer some other color, but this is was a great deal. I agree with everyone else; a colorful BC is not going to be much help on the surface, and you should carry a safety sausage for that reason. The only advantage I can see to having a colorful BC is I stand out underwater, and everyone has no doubt where I am.

Buy an ABLJ.

Nice bright orange colour :)
