Not a diver...yet

Hello everyone,

I just happened on this site while researching my upcomong trip to Palau. This site is great. I've been reading it all day. I've been obsessed with diving since ever snice i cambe back from a snorkeling trip to Koh Pi Pi. My friend and I are planning on going to Palau at the end of november to get our license followed by a week of diving. Can't wait to write about it when i get back

I had a passion for scuba also. I finally just got off my duff and took some class's from a real good diving instructor. i would suggest that you get instructions from a real pro instuctor. I did and it saved my live last weekend. Mike

Hey Mike, what exactly happened to you last weekend?


I will no doubt be checking the credentials of the school we'll be going to. We plan on going to Guam for 3 days and doing the basic open water dive course. The school's website (http://www.mdaguam.com ) mentions that they are PADI certified and so on and so forth. So they should be safe...right:mean:

Just because they are certified with one of the bigger organizations doesnt' make them all right, you might want to contact Padi and see who they have in the area. Are they a 5 star? One of the best ways to find good instructors is through recommendations.

I was diving at 115 ft and on my ascent my reg failed. no air nada. so my training I received was to stay COOL and find your buddy and use there extra air source and return to the surface safely. there's alot more to it than that tho. It was a rental reg and i really didnt find out what the problem was either because when i returned to the boat it worked just fine. diving is a great sport and there's no looking back now for me. just be serious about your training and have fun to.
