Multiple search crews have been deployed off the coast of Brisbane following reports of a missing diver.
9News understands the diver, a 20-year-old Norwegian national, went missing after going out to a popular dive site just off North Stradbroke Island with two other people he met that morning.
When the man failed to resurface, boaties attempted to look for him for 30 minutes before raising the alarm with authorities just before 11am.
Diver missing at tourist hotspot
Multiple air and sea rescue crews are scouring the water off the coast of a popular Queensland island after a diver was reported missing about 5km offshore.
Rescue crews were alerted to a missing diver before 11am on Wednesday off North Stradbroke Island, with police describing the area of concern as “three to four miles north of Point Lookout”.
The Surf Life Saving helicopter was alerted to the missing diver soon after and will continue to search “until last light today”, a spokesperson for the service told NCA NewsWire.

At 2.30pm, the helicopter continued to search for the diver alongside Queensland Water Police crews.
“Lifeguards have gone out on jet skis as well to assist,” a Surf Life Saving spokesperson said. “The diver was reported to be near Flat Rock, which is offshore up on the northern tip near Point Lookout.”
News of a missing diver comes just weeks after the search for a surf-skier off the same island led to a tragic end.
