Eric: it is a sweet wreck. The wreck is located in the North Channel on the eastern end of Manotulin Island. The best charter to it is actually a live abord called DawnLight operating out of Tobermory and captained by Ray Davis.

More details about the ship here

It's in Lake Huron near Manitoulin. Starts at around 75' and goes down to about 140', so something for both rec and tech divers. Not sure who charters, but probably out of Toby.

steve,

Do you know of any groups or clubs who set up liveaboards?
thanks

I'm booked on her for a trip to the Northwind next June, and that trip is organized by a group out of Toledo, Ohio... I sort of got an invite to join them... and probably that's the way it'll work for you. Are you a member of any dive clubs yourself? I've had a look at your profile and tough to tell where you stay. Certainly the best move you could make at this point is to contact Ray directly and let him know you are interested.

Couple of words of caution. The wreck is deepish... 80 to 130 or so... and water is dark, lots of silt and temperature cold. It is an advanced dive. Not sure how you feel about that or how well you might be prepared for it... however, certainly something to aim for.

In any event, PM me your email address and I will keep my ears open

Of course another option is to try to get a ride to it with one of the local divers... I ran a course for someone in Manitolin some years back but lost touch with him... but there are locals going out to it on a regular basis.

DawnLight is better way though :)

Next time your at the store I'll try to dig up some of the video we shot also.

There are dive stores in Little Current and Killnary(sp), that both have seasonal dive stores and run charters out to her, (Haven't been)

FWIW, our shop runs one every year on the Dawnlight as well.

If it's full yet, I don't know, probably not at this point. Check out the site, I think the 2004 Season trips are on line, under EVENTS.
Uhmmmm, they should calm down on the text colours, but it's not my call.......

Ask for Matt at the store, but don't call until December,....he's in Mexico for 2 weeks caving.

At the very least you can get some Northwind info and comparative pricing, even if Tom's pics are better :-)
