Hi everyone
I have been after my cert for a while now but the classes kept getting canceled in the winter...go figure...so now I am hoping that the August class fills out so I can get my certification before I leave for 2 weeks in Australia in September.

From my limited vacation dives, I ascertain that the most important gear to purchase is regulator, mask , snorkel, and fins.

If this is not prioritized correctly let me know please as I intend to purchase these before I leave. Don't really want to carry any more than this around the world.

I was hoping someone could direct me to a site or link that gives good comparison info on those items and or advise me on specific features I might consider. I will start reading the forums, but I find a couple of good links can really go a long way to filling in the blanks.

Thanks
Chris

Read and learn all you can. You'll find out if you ask for people to chip in they will. You'll hear what they use is the best. That doesn't make it so by a long shot. You might want to pick up a July issue of Scuba Diver they rate 17 new regulators for 08.

When your talking a REG I take it as a SPG, depth maybe even a compass are maybe computer along with an Octo is included. What about a BC? Remember if you rent one your going to have to buy an inflator hose for you REG. Good Luck!

Welcome to SB. I try not to offer advice on dive gear since most of mine almost qualifies as vintage!
