Sweet shots of the boarding, i bet if it was a private boat a m4 and extra man would be in order. I sure wouldn't want to jump on a random boat without the right tools lol.

Can't anyone open carry on their boat? I thought it was common practice provided a dry ride...

I have yet to see a commercial fishing boat without a few "Shark" guns - 12 gauge slug, 9mm, 45's 30/30, etc.

Actually, three of the NOAA officers came on board, what I posted was the screen shot of the final officer boarding. I do now recall Cap't Rick mentioning that there had been some issues with other boats spearfishing in the SPA protected areas earlier in 2010, which might be the reason the NOAA decided to search the Ultimate Getaway (looking for speared catch or even just spearguns, I suppose). We were on a photo trip and Cap't Rick made sure none of us was carrying any spearing devices before we left port in Ft Myers

The only problem I have is that this is no where near enough ammo. I am an instructor for the army. One of the things I teach are weapons. That is one day at the range. You can't get proficient from that. Typical news report with someone thinking it's excessive because it sounds like a high number when all of the facts are not presented.

I realize why NOAA fisheries enforcement officers need all that ammunition, but Social Security. Are they afraid those senior citizens are going to get feisty when their benefits run out

You really have to consider the source of the article.

It could be something fairly simple related to normal security at SSA offices and specifics in security contracts regarding government supplied equipment in those contracts - but it sounds so much more FUN and INTERESTING (and maybe even DIRTY!) if it's part of a grand conspiracy.

Personally I think the government knows the Zombie threat is real and is gearing up. .357 Sig is a superb Zombie killer... ;)

I love my guns and all but isn't NOAA the weather people? Why are the armed in the first place?

If they are going to carry firearms in the line of duty, then they damned well better practice using them.

Why a NOAA official would need to carry sounds like a separate question.

If you got your job wrong as often as these folks do, or as often, you might feel the need to keep expecting something bad to happen to you.

Ya, the guy who wrote this has the black helicopters from the UN circling over his house.
