You've all been listening to much left wing propaganda again, and yes, before you all ask or say something dumb, I'm a combat Vet (Gulf War)as was my father (2 tours in Vietnam) and Grandfather (WWII)

The IRS has released the year 2000 data for individual income tax returns. The numbers illustrate a truth that will startle you: that half of Americans with the highest incomes pays 96.09% of all income tax. This nukes the liberal lie that the rich don't pay taxes. The top 1%, who earn 20.81% of all income covered under the income tax, are paying 37.42% of the federal tax bite.

Check out historical tax tables on pages 4 & 5.

Doesn't it just bring tears of sorrow to your eyes when you realize the sacrifices that top 1% had to make in the past. You got to wonder why anyone even wanted to be in that bracket. I guess somebody had to make the sacrifice, even in the 1950s.

Rather than getting all tweaked out of shape by magic number shuffeling, I suggest TALKING to a disabled veteran about the prospect of having their disability cut.

Make a visit to your local VA clinic/hospital & ask both the patients as well as health care providers about what it would mean to cut the budget of the already underfunded and overworked VA health care system.

How would you like to wait a year for an MRI? That's what the average time is in some areas right now.

It doesn't matter if its a democrat or a republican doing the dirty deed, getting stabbed in the back is the same no matter who is holding the knife.

Bob3,

Actualy I talk to my father quite often thank you. He has a 50% Disability due to loss of hearing and his knees. He retired in 1984 from 13th Support Command @ Ft. Hood, TX in 1984. He is also a combat vet and has been awarded and earned his CIB and the purple heart while serving on one of his 2 tours in Vietnam. He hurt his knees after a night drop in the mid sixties and then lost his flight status as a helo pilot when his hearing went bad around about '78. He is retired and lives entirely off his Army retirement pay and his only source of medical care at the moment is from the VA. Left wing groups and politics will try and use scare tactics like there cutting benifits. Thats an outright Lie. Every time they don't get the increase in bugets they expect they call it a cut when infact they are increasing spending, just not to the level they want.

Don't belive me, well read it from your own source

Here I'll quote it for you.

"The new plan will compensate disabled military retirees at an estimated total amount of $4 billion to $9 billion over ten years. Still, it is disappointing that despite such an overwhelming number of cosponsors, a more comprehensive plan was not enacted."

By there own facts they are saying that they do have a "new plan" for spending 4-9 Billion. There disappointed that it was not more so they put out misleading statements that scare people into thinking that there are cuts in the funding which is a lie, they are increaseing spending.

I spent 6 yrs in the Army serving in Korea 2ID 5-5 ADA, Europe 2AD 2-5 ADA and of course was with the 1st Cav 4-5 ADA during the Gulf war. I have received several letters from the DA stating that I have been exposed chemicals. Depending on the letter they state that exposure risk was minimal or low to yes I was exposed.

Next time don't tell me to go talk to a disabled vet or someone who is worried about Gulf war illness.

You are talking to someone who this directly relates to! Get a grip and learn to read the facts and gather you own informed view before spouting off.

You just labeled an entire group of Disabled Veterans as Lefties, they're the ones largely responsible for getting the Gulf War Syndrome recognized as being an actual illness instead of "slacker's disease" like they were trying to pass it off as.
Thanks to Bubba Clintoon, your group gets priority treatment at the VA centers, so if you should happen to develop that nasty condition, maybe your wait will only be a year for treatment instead of 2.

Here's another Disabled Veteran for your pinko list: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ollienorth/on20020726.shtml

Yea, right, all our problems would be solved if Al Gore got elected:wacko:, he would have supplemented the military pay with money from the Buddhist temples =-)

Also, I have a bridge to sell you.

..but he wouldn't have pissed away a 1.46 trillion dollar surplus by handing it out $300 at a time. Did y'all notice how well my spending my rebate check helped spur the economy?...Don't y'all worry...my $300 should kick in any day now and then we'll all be livin' high on the hog!

Strike my earlier comment about Dubya's dad getting him outta Vietnam...that could be seen as a personal attack and he just may be a member of this board.

Also, I spent my measly little tax rebate check on a new mask, a couple of dive lights and a gear bag.....there, now this is a SCUBA related thread...

Sort of gives the lie to all this talk about "we should all support our troops!" doesn't it.
Seems like another out of sight, out of mind Bushism...
Back in the day I saw a bumper sticker that read "George Bush (the original) is pro-life until birth" lol
okay, before this thread gets thrown out for mentioning the "W" word somebody hurry over here and hijack it!

Bob3

Where have you read anywhere or show that the Goverment has cut spending for vets? Even your own source didn't say that.

It's only the lefties like you who are saying that. North may be critical of the Gov but he sure didn't say that Bush cut spending. Like I said before there only made because they didn't spend as much as they wanted.

Who called anyone a pinko? You said that not me.

It's the same trick that all lefties make. Call name's and try to scare everone but when you ask'em to back it up they can't. They only tell lies and half truths with no facts to back it up. When you give'em the facts then they holler back and call you a lier.

By the way what is your service record? are you a vet, let alone a disabled one? No ones saying the system can't be better but it's not as bad as you make it out to be that's what I find offensive. If you want to show us some cold hard facts I would be inclined to give credit to your rantings but until then your just another left wing nut sucking air and blowing wind.
