I'll be shore diving at a spot with both air and nitrox fills. I dive a computer, rarely use tables. Both my back tanks and bailout are full of air. To avoid the process of emptying them and getting nitrox fills i was hoping to do the first dive on air, then filling nitrox. Want to have the data/ tables ready in case the switch throws my computer into some kind of lock out mode. (never tried it before).

I think ill find the EAD and continue planning from air table.
Thanks for your advice!

Have switched between dives without any problems on my no frills Oceanic Veo. I can't imagine any other more sophiscated computers having a problem with it.

You already seem to have found your answer, but just an FYI the results from my "test" are similar, yet not identical. Using EAD tended to be more conservative, giving the diver a higher pressure group.

Most computers can switch between air and nitrox mode. If yours can't or won't, simply input you mix as 21% for the air dive. I know the gekko had this problem, but that was the only computer I knew of which was stubborn like that ...

I was just going to answer yes because your pressure group results from how much N you (theoretically) have in you. If you are now pressure group "M" you have the same amount of N in you whether you just dived Air or any Nitrox mix. I recall that one of the Nitrox problems either in the manual or on the test has you diving Nitrox dive one and Air dive 2. It was pointed out that doing Air first then Nitrox may irritate some computers, but I see no difference using tables. When it comes to my computer, I'm just thrilled to be able to understand it when doing all dives with the same gas.....( I think it also LOGS dives..)

Using PADI RDP pressure groups are interchangeable. Using a computer set computer on nitrox and enter % of mix. When on air use 21% as mix. This way computer keeps track of O2 exposure. I suggest for OP to reread his/her nitrox text or if this was not covered by their instructor to call him and ask why is was not.

Just run the first dive with your computer set for Nitrox with a 21% mix. Then run the second dive with whatever mix Nitrox you have and all should be good.

Yes, PADI tables can be used for either air or nitrox. I was always told to dive Nitrox on the first (deeper) dive to keep nitrogen loading down and lower pressure group, then move to air (21%) on the second (shallower) dive.
