The oxygen is of similar pricing given the exchange rate and our G is 3000 PSI but your helium is cheap cheap cheap.

I need to work on a better price for it. Yours is about $260 AUD and I have been quoted $1200 and know the dive shops get it for about $300-400

Acetylene is a low pressure gas... Coming out of the regulator at 5 to 7 psi.. The tank pressure is in the 250 psi range if I remember right.. The O2 tank is coming out of the regulator at 20 to 45 psi depending if welding or cutting.. The chance of pushing acetylene back into a O2 tank in a welding set is like dam near impossible.. The mixing chambers on torchs also makes it all most impossible also.

I only pay 80 bucks a year to lease argon and O2 tanks...

Jim...

It usually happens when the O2 tank goes empty and you turn on the acetalin and it back feeds to the O2 tank.

And you would need to not have check valves on the lines and the O2 valve would need to be open and the tip of the torch close off to force the gas back through the mixing chamber... Like I said dam near impossible... But I guess you can do anything...

You might check with a different supplier. My lease cost from Praxair is $135 / 5 years - or $27/yr.

Frankly, there is some weirdness about the pricing of Helium...

When I first bought a T cylinder of Helium - it sold for about $175. A year later - I came back to get it refilled - and the supplier quoted me a price of $600. I pointed out the 300% increase in price to the sales rep - they asked their boss - and then offered me the T at $180 a cylinder. I didn't ask what happened - I just paid quickly and left before they changed their mind! :)

Only one company in 150 miles... And it's a two year lease .. My mistake...
I do own my acetylene and stargon tanks...
Jim.

In New Mexico it is a two to four week turnaround to get ABO grade oxygen as my tank has to be shipped 250 miles north in order to be filled welding O2 is filled locally. I guess that is good for lack of contamination.

Oxygen |What is Oxygen?

Grade A is 99% O2, Grade E is aviator grade, and it has more than simple water content specifications.

Here's a good guide to O2 written by a PhD at Michigan.

Oxygen Labels

Thanks for the information, I learned a lot just now!

I own three T tanks for ABO and two for UHP Helium.
I don't keep my own tanks, I drop tanks off and pick up full ones.
ABO fills here in Detroit run $28, it has remained steady for the last three years.
UHP Helium is close to $300 in Detroit, but I can get them swapped in Ft Wayne IN for $175.
