Nitrox at Komodo land-based?

Thanks for the info, @Luko. It looks like Manta Rhei has nitrox. There is reference to it on their website and it is showing up in reviews on TripAdvisor lately.

edited: I just heard back from Manta Rhei. Current promotion is that nitrox is free if you are certified for it. Suhweeeeet. Their day boat is slow and not a speedboat. Not a dealbreaker as it looks to be in pretty good condition relative to the ones I’ve seen and been on and has been recently refreshed. They have been very warm/thorough and quick in their replies which I appreciate. I might just give this one a try. I reached out to a few others with nitrox. I will keep you all posted.

Vero is who has been responding to my emails at Manta Rhei. Dragon Dive confirmed today that nitrox is available for an additional charge so I’m confused on why they told you they do not have it!

Blue Marlin has not responded to my inquiry yet. Manta Rhei has been the quickest and most thorough in their responses and information provided/offered without asking.

Okay, that makes sense. We are discussing land based operators for day trips. While I know they often also operate liveaboards, it’s good to clarify. Thanks.

The trip to Komodo was great. The diving was fun, and I felt like Scuba Junkie really had a passion for diving; almost all of our dives were more than 60 minutes. I was happy about that.

The days were long on the boat, but there isn't much to do at the resort afterwards so I didn't mind too much. I though the food was just OK. Not very much diversity; after 4 days we'd already had repeat menu items. But it all seemed well prepared and clean, so that counts. The air conditioned room was good to have as it could get hot. I missed some hot water for the shower, but not that much of a big deal.

If someone told me they were going to the Scuba Junkie resort, I'd say you'll probably have a good time! If I was going back to Komodo, I'd probably think about trying a liveaboard.

We are headed to Komodo Resort - Tomorrow!

We will be paying about $3,500 for 8 nights for two people. That's a lot less than for most high quality LOBs.

I'll let you know how it is! (It was Luko's recommendation, I always get a recommendation so I have someone to blame if it doesn't work out ). The only other time I went to Komodo it was on a LOB from Bali (Mermaid) and we did not go south due to weather, and it was GREAT.

Komodo Resort has nitrox.

They do, but not for their 15L tanks. Those are air only.

Just back from a Oct trip in Komodo. Dove with both Manta Rhei Dive Center and Komodo Resort. Both offered good experiences.

Manta Rhei has 12L nitrox at no charge for certified diver (for now) and 15L for Air only (they charge for the 15L). Nitrox is only for the day trip boats as land based trips limits you to the North (mostly) and central sites. They have a new and good sized boat but not speed boat. For experienced divers, they will group you with the more experienced guide(s) that will take you to do some more "exciting dives" where the guides will have extra reef hooks for you if you don't have one. I did have one of my most epic dives (amongst my 7th trip to Indo, 4x Raja, 1x Alor, 1x Lembeh, 1x Bali) at Castle Rock with Manta Rhei where the different schools of fish were so thick thatyou may have hard time finding your buddies. They do have lots of students doing OW and AOW classes on the boat.

Komodo Resort also has only 12L nitrox and 15L air only; and they charge you for both. I wish they would make a few 15L tank O2 clean for Nx. The rooms at the resort is top notch, all with AC and services is excellent. Food is to "die for" especially the Italian dinners and pizza night as the chef is italian trained and rolls out fresh pasta that totally ruined my diet plan. Diving tends to be more on the conservative side with usually two dives scheduled in the morning for lunch back at resort and the third dive available on request. Makes sense as many of the honey moon couples seem wanting some lone time back at the beautiful resort where a nice hike to the top with great views is just 20 minutes or less. They seem to avoid currents on most dives and the mentioning of Reef hook seemed "taboo'ed".
