I get mine cleaned. The only places near me do PP. I am going to have to break down the doubles before the end of the year or the beginning of next to get them clean before I take Tech 1.

Thanks, dude ! We probably use the same places. I'm trying to decide what to do with the new tank. I'm concerned about keeping it O2 clean ... especially when getting fills on boats. Camp Pendleton is a bit of hike, even for me ... and I'm only about 3 miles from the County Line. Hey, maybe I need to buy yet another tank
There is a specific spec called "modified Grade E" air which must be used in o2 clean tanks. While their air is filtered "twice", it's not the same hyperfilter process that produced air clean enough to qualify for genuine o2 clean specs. In short: Buyer beware. It's pretty clean, but on a technicality that may or may not matter in the real world, after they fill your o2 clean tank... it ain't. It's not like they then stamp a big "non-o2 clean" logo onto the tank at that point, so if you're ok with that, you may be fine to continue pretending it's 100% o2 clean.riguerin:This is good topic for So Cal divers ... and one of the confusing parts about getting Nitrox fills from boats.
Here's an excerpt from the Lois Ann site: "While our nitrox is filtered twice to remove hydrocarbons it should not be considered to be "O2 Clean". We use Grade E Air to supply the membrane which separates nitrogen and oxygen in the air, dumps some of the nitrogen as a waste gas, and then recompresses the remaining oxygen-rich gas (nitrox) into a scuba cylinder."
I don't get it ! They use hydrocarbon filter (Grade E) air in their membrane system but an 02 clean tank is no longer guaranteed to be O2 clean ? What's up with that :huh:
Yes, the visual inspection and the Oxygen Service are on the same sticker. This sticker is only good for one year. Of course, as has already been mentioned, the Oxygen Service needs to be maintained by the user. Non-oxygen compatible air fills will cause the cylinder to no longer be clean to Oxygen Service standards and it is the responsibility of the owner to not endanger a blender.TrojanCatMan:If you only have your tank filled by 02 clean locations do you have to re 02 clean your tank periodically?

My goal for this thread is to find a shop that will fill my cylinders with Nitrox using some method that does not require me to keep the cylinders clean to Oxygen Service standards. This would offer me more options on dive boats and in some other situations. It is not a panacea, I just want to have options.

Thank you, this is the type of info I am looking for. So far either I travel up to Hollywood or down to Camp Pendelton, or I just continue to deal with the problems of clean cylinders and dive boats.limeyx:Hollywood divers uses membrane system, but they are far for you.
