I've been diving the past week with my NiTex Duo which I purchased 4 or 5 years ago. It functions properly on the first dive, but after about 20-25 minutes into a second dive the SLOW warning begins flashing (even though I'm not ascending), and continues to flash for the remainder of the dive. And at the end of the dive the three minute safety stop timer doesn't display. The unit displays depth and elapsed time during the dive, although the depth reading alternates between the actual depth and a lessor depth such as 12 or 15 feet. Forunately I have a second computer with me so I'm not losing any dive opportunities.

I know these things are not made to last forever, but 4-5 years and 200 or so dives seems a little short. Any thoughts? Is a repair possible?

Thanks,

Gary

There have been a few issues with this model but from what I have read the bulk of the issues were fixed by a battery change. Have you changed the battery? There have been some other threads concerning this issue. I have been lucky with mine and like you dive a second computer. Dive Rite will pipe in with options too. Their customer service has been great for me.

Hi Gary,

Sounds like it could be simply a battery issue, however it may be a transducer as well. I suggest changing the battery and if that doesn't take care of it, send it to Mike in service at service@diverite.com for an evaluation. Obviously, continue to use a backup until you've got this one squared away.

Best,
Kathleen

A new battery did the trick. I did two dives today with the Nitek and it worked perfectly.

Thanks to those who weighed in, and thanks to Dive Rite for a prompt and useful response.

Good diving to all!
