I didn't end up picking anything when I went last month, I think my wife picked eagle rays and we only saw 2 I think. I was just glad I didn't have to count sharks.

👍

Now you need to add BackScatter MicroMate Lens for capturing small things.

Actually, this last trip was the first time I used a GoPro, which I borrowed from a buddy. Before I mostly used iPhone for UW pics and videos, which worked fine, but I misplaced the phone that fits the housing I have.

Now I have to make a decision - buy a GoPro and start building a bundle, like you suggested, or buy a housing that fits various phone models. I know I don't need anything more advanced.

I found that a GoPro battery lasts longer, that's about the only advantage for UW. The quality of video between a GoPro and an iPhone is comparable, but the phone takes better stills. GoPro screen is effectively useless, too small. On the other hand, GoPro can be used for other activities, like skiing, which is a plus. So, decisions, decisions.

As far as the light is concerned - mine is "only" 1500 lumens, and I almost never use it on a full power, so pretty happy with it.

No kidding!

They were tons of sharks when I was there. Here are what I saw in just 2 dive sites:
