Hi,

A few of us divers from Boston are coming out to the Keys to do some diving next weekend.

Do any of you have information on good night dive sites? Are there good shore dive locations?

Thanks!

The Keys really don't have any shore dives. Everything takes a boat ride. Go online to Diver's City or Quiescence. Either can suggest good night dives. I would suggest the Benwood for a shallow wreck or one of the shallow reefs for the night dives. There are many other spots, you would enjoy.

Trish... from what I've seen here, and a search I just did after talking to you, I think we can give up on shore diving.

How about our spiegel grove dive sat., with a night dive with the same charter?

I'm almost tempted to do 3 dives with them (Diver's City) on sat. (morning on the SG, afternoon wherever, and night wherever)

thoughts?

Tom... if you read this, you up for more than a morning SG dive?

No, Sat morning will probably be all I can manage.

So, I've heard before that there are no shore dives but I never heard why. Just curious. Can anyone clue me in?

I've never been to the keys before.

There is only one real beach in the Keys and that is in Key West. The Keys are all islands made up from Mangroves. And, as Raxafarian said, all of the reefs are a couple of miles offshore. In between the reefs and the keys is sand and sea grass.

We've dove with Aqua Nuts (Kelly's On The Bay = resort) in Key Largo several times - they usually do the Benwood Wreck as a night dive - it's a great site. The wreck is broken up pretty well but you'll find lots of night life :)
