Hi I'm new to this site too but saw you're in OR. I'm not much into fishing or cold water diving anymore but I did my open water through Aquatic Sports in Portland then Hood Canal and had a good experience. Visibilty was basically arms length so pretty much every other dive since then has been awesome. We used drysuits so we never really got cold or anything but they are pretty different than a wetsuit. Happy diving.
