Newbie - waiting for medical clearance and looking for advice/info

Hi
So, I’m joining my hub in this new venture! Awaiting med clearance- should be 5 weeks ‘til I start training but I’m snorkelling in an international dive pool
I guess I’m looking for advice re gear
I’ve tried on an aqualung pearl BCD which felt comfortable- any other recommendation?
Looking at ‘advanced diver/sports diver’ training
Looking to dive around UK and Montenegro initially
Any advice welcome
