Newbie going to Bonaire, do I need a dive marker?

No dive flag need for shore diving. I would suggest a SMB as some of the other have. Have a great trip.
 
As a newbie in Bonaire you will not likely be diving the wild side. So an SMB is not needed. Little to no current. Little to no boat traffic. Little to no waves. If you get even 4 inches of chop I would be surprised.

But if you have one, take it and enjoy.

It will be more important to make sure you have the proper booties. Some (many?) of the iron shore entrances are a bit tough on the feet.
