Newbie from Ohio

I got my OW cert last summer and had lots of problem equalizing my ears etc. I spent many days afterwards lurking on your site trying to find the ways to deal with this problem etc. Thanks to the many suggestions and links I found here I was able to go to Aruba this past spring and did 16 dives in 6 days. It was awesome and now I'm totally hooked.

Boy friend and I are working on our Advanced certification now and only have navigation left. We're planning a long weekend trip for Key Largo in October. We have our flights but nothing else planned for sure.

Looking forward to getting to know all of your better and thank you from a past lurker

Welcome to the board! Are you planning on diving locally as well? Nice thing about Ohio, there are quite a few quarries plus the Great Lakes in easy driving distance.

Yes we are planning on diving locally. We were planning on doing the DAN bbq this weekend, at Portage, but don't have all our equipment purchased yet and don't want to rent. Hoping to have everything soon and will be heading down to Circleville just so we can get in the water and try everything out.

Also want to go to Gilboa as my BF was certified there (I was at Portage) and want to check out the differences etc. Quarries are nice for practice, but I was hooked on the warm water in the Caribbean.

Welcome to the boards from one Ohioan to another...I was certified in Portage too, actually, a long time ago, and it's still probably my fave of the local quarries just for the nostalgia. Gilboa's a cool place, though...my GF and I were there last weekend, and had a good time.

We'll probably be doing Gilboa again this coming Saturday, and Portage this Sunday, both around 10 am. Give me a holler too if you ever want to hit the water, or want to meet up with us this weekend!

Welcome the most expansive scuba forum out there. And congrats on not only finding the right place to search for answers but fixing them too! Ear problems are by far the most common (it seems ) glad to hear you've overcome that.... have fun!
