New Year's Eve in Cozumel?

It looks like we might be there to ring in 2012. Does anyone know what might be going on Dec. 31? Do they make a celebration in the main square or anything? I would suppose the bigger hotels have dinners and things going on, but we'll likely be free agents downtown that night. Any suggestions?

Of course, the better restaurants will serve NYE dinners. Strolling downtown, the bars will have good action -- a few with live music if the weather cooperates (Outdoor stages @ Wet Wendy's, Ohana, & Love Cafe; Indoor at French Quarter, Viva Mexico & Tiki Tok.) No announcements from the city -- it's still in Navidad mode -- but we usually see fireworks in the Plaza.

I like wandering the neighborhood streets and watching the locals celebrating. And setting things on fire... ;^)

I'll also be on the island January 1st but not Dec 31st so it looks like i'll miss some of the festivities.
