Rob in Oman
New
The Royal Navy of Oman has sunk a new artificial reef on 21st April 2003.
The ship was or is called the Al Munassir an 85mtr (250ft) long Heavy landing craft.
She was used as a Tank and troop carrier in support of amphibious operations in the 80s.
She is sat with her props at 27mtr (87ft) and Bridge at 14mts ( 45ft) in an upright position. There have only been a few sections closed off by the Navy as they think it would be too dangerous for divers but 90% is fully assessable. The Royal Navy undertook all the work from start to finish and have created a great new dive site. To date I have dived her 4 times and remember the times walking round her deck as she was made ready.
Oman diving has more than just this ship, check you web out.
You need to stop looking at Sharm with the rest of the thousands of sheep, come and do some bubbles in Oman.
