I've recently bought an Oceanic 3 mil farmer john and after six dives its allready showing signs of wear. The chest and shoulders under the BC straps are starting to ball up and the cuffs are starting to fray. It must just be cheap neoprene because my sons Deep See suit is'nt wearing like this. Is this normal or premature?

Wow, that really sounds premature to me! I use a Henderson Hyperstretch suit, which seems to show wear faster than other types of suits, and after over 30 dives on it, it's just starting to show a little pilling on the rear end.

I use an Akona 7mm mostly in rock quarries and it's plenty scuffed up from rubbing against rock edges. I haven't had any problems with BC straps scuffing it though. If you use your wetsuit in rugged areas it will get scuffed up like anything else. I don't let the scuffs bother me because the suit is still very warm.

Just a suggestion: If you want to keep the colors from fading wash your wetsuits in cold water using a product called "Simple Green" on gentle cycle. I've used it on all my wetsuits and it really does wonders.
