I know that the newer style (Lightning ) Jets differ from the older version in that they are somewhat lighter (read 15% somewhere) due to a change in the rubber composition.

My question is:

Has anyone dived and compared BOTH versions...what differences did you observe?

It's been about 20 years but yes.... I used some rentals for a while (made with the old composition) and then bought a set of lighting Jet Fins. The new jet fins felt lighter than the old ones in the shop but only if you held one in each hand and then not much - 15% sounds reasonable. I did not dive them side by side (one on each foot would have been an interesting test) but they did not strike me as performing any diffferent in the water.

Ok... I seem to have seen different Jetfin designs... I'm not sure if I saw what I saw...

One jetfin style seems to be, a flat solid fin

the other, seems to have side ribs (much like the side ribs of a Mares Quattro)... are there really different styles?

rubber composition. The blade length varies from size to size, tho.

Ok... now another question... Jetfins, or TwinJets?

What advantages/disadvantages do the twinjets have over the regular jets?

One thing puzzles me... some fins seem to be faster than Jets, except in current... why is this??? Wouldn't it follow that if a fin could propel you fast through standing water, it should be able to do the same in current? (The Bio-fin supposedly is faster than the Jets, but not in a strong current)

comparing the performance characteristics of the two material compositions used in JetFins.

Discussion of split fins would be off-topic, feel free to start a new thread.
