Some people are natural lefties; they do things backwards when compared to others. I found this board quite by accident, made a post or two, and finally found this.

I certified in 1970 in New Jersey (the equipment fights and stories are not new), stopped when I moved to Chicago, but started again in 1995. I do most of my diving in S. Florida when I vacation. Usually I would find a buddy at the boat. This is not always satisfactory and until last year, none of my children had any interest in diving.

When my 12 year-old showed interest, she took a PADI course. I sat with her and watched the videos and worked out the textbook problems with her. A good refresher course for me.

She and I are strictly rec divers. We discussed doing some Great Lakes diving, but will put it off until she has more experience.

Why do I dive? It is a great stress reliever. One hour underwater makes up for a whole lot of daily grind.

welcome aboard!

It's always good to see a new face on the board, especially when they come from my backyard. As far as diving Lake Michigan, some of the shallow wrecks at the south end of the lake will be close to very warm later this summer. The Material Service Barge, the Illinois/Holly Barge, the Morgan Shoals and most of the Indiana wrecks all will see temps in the 70's by the end of the season - grab your buddy and give them a try. It's not like diving in the ocean, for sure, but that's half the point.
