New To the ScubaBoard

I'm new to SCUBA diving and to this forum. I reside in New Braunfels, Texas (greater San Antonio area). I am currently working on my Open Water certification (NAUI). I have had the privilege to snorkel many places around the world, including Los Cabos, Cancun and Hawaii. Until now, I have never been SCUBA diving. I am looking forward to this new adventure, but I also want to be safe. I hope to make several friends here. Any feedback or advise would be appreciated.
