Hi folks,

I just moved up to Northern Nevada from Southern Cal. where I was a full time scuba instructor on Catalina Island for the past 2 years. I am looking forward to getting aclimated to northern cal/nev diving, especially Lake Tahoe and Monterey. I have never been diving in the north so I plan to dive a lot before I start doing a lot of teaching again. I will be diving Lake Tahoe, Meeks bay with Sierra diving Center out of Reno on Aug, 25. I hope there will be some north cal divers there that I can buddy up with and plan to do some fun dives and learn where the best sites are in the area, especially the northern Cal coast that I can get to in a reasonable amount of time from the Reno area.

If there are any other clubs diving in the north Cal or Lake Tahoe area in the coming weeks please let me know, I would like to tag along whenever I can.

Cheers!

Hi Tim,

There's a lot of really good diving both in Monterey and up on the North Coast, north of the Golden Gate bridge up in Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
I would imagine that from where you are coming from the drive would be about the same to either.
I'm partial to the North Coast not only because I live up here but also because I think the diving is richer and more intense than Monterey.
We have a dive organization up here called the North Coast Divers
http://www.northcoastdivers.org and we schedule a beach dive somewhere in Sonoma or Mendocino county once a month. Occasionally we will go to Monterey but the focus is on the North Coast. We'd love to have you join us. There are no fees or dues, anybody can show up from anywhere and dive with us.
Check the website for the latest dive info.
There are also lots of places to camp on the North Coast which makes it nice if you're on a budget, unlike Monterey where motels costs can add up.

Welcome to the northern end!

Eric

Hi Tim,

Welcome to NorCal! You are welcome to come dive with us whenever you get the chance. We do a lot of camping trips along the North Coast which would probably work well for you. As ZKY, mentioned you can find out about them on www.northcoastdivers.org.

Hello Tim

As the other members stated, I would like to give you a hardy welcome to the northern end of the state. Diving the n.coast is full of rich life and adventures, but a little cold at times. Any hoo welcome again. Let me know when you want to get wet and maybe we could catch some bubbles. Also I sent you a pm.

Thanks everyone,

Sounds like the north coast divers is the ticket for me. I am looking forward to meeting the club, hopefully on the next one in september.

Tim,

I should be at Meeks as well on the 25th. Look forward to meeting you.

Sounds great! We'll see you there.

Looks like Ryan and I will be in Tahoe during the weekend of the 25th. Not sure where we are going to be diving though. We will have two kayaks with us one being an orange Hobie and the other being a red...errr pink Scupper Pro. Ya can't miss me in my red drysuit. If you run into us please say hello :)
