We love diving in Key Largo... more than enough to keep you busy for 5 days!!

I live in Key largo, so I'll agree with jar546. How long will you be here? I talk to a lot of folks that start in Key Largo and work their way down. Personally if I wanted to do all of the Keys I'd go to the farthest point first (Key West) and work my way back. That way at the end of the trip you are near the mainland and don't have the 2 hour drive from Key West. Lots of great diving in the Keys.

What are you looking for? wreck/artificial reefs? Coral reefs?

Of course I am biased to Key Largo since I live here.

Enjoy the Keys... we sure do!

Last time I checked, the farthest point was Dry Tortugas, which have so much more variety of pelagics, big fish, lobster, healthy corals, etc than Key Largo it would make you weep. Of course, DT is most easily accessible by private boat or liveaboard which is not to everybodies taste, but to think that Key Largo has the best the Keys has to offer or that Key West is the farthest point is a terrible error. Key West is merely the end of the road. The real diving starts beyond the end of the road.....

Correct, Dry Tortugas is further, accessed by boat, and Key West is the end of the road. I have been wanting to dive Dry Tortugas based on all the good things I hear about it. Thank you for correcting me. Didn't think about beyond Key West. But I will still stack Key Largo up to any point on the Overseas Highway.

And liveaboard isn't for everyone, or indeed for most folks. There isn't much nightlife, nor privacy on the Dry Tortugas liveaboards, but the diving.... Man, it's awesome....
