Hello,

I just moved to NE (grew up in Framingham). I've only dove warm water but since I am here thought I would checkout some of the sites. Only prob is I have no clue where to start? Are there dive club? I am in Providence for now but my brother lives in Framingham so any where in the area works for me.
Lastly what is the Min. suit i can get away with? is a 24lb express tech enough lift?

Thanks!

Gloucester and Rockport are the most popular sites with the people I know. As far as suits, one of my friends will only dive dry, and I dove in a 7mm on New Years Day, so YMMV.

Most people tend to wear a full 7mm or farmer John style wetsuit with hood, gloves, boots. Then there's always drysuits :-) Just depends on your tolerance for cold.

There is decent shore diving in Gloucester and Rockport as mentioned above. There are also lots of dive charters in the area too.

For dive clubs, North Shore Frogmen in Salem, MA, New England Aquarium Dive Club, MetroWest Dive Club in Natick, MA. I know I missed a bunch of others.

The clubs can be good resources to find potential dive buddies but in my opinion once you get sorted with a good group of divers, the clubs tend to be less important.

You can certainly use your Zeagle Express Tech. I would probably want something with a little more lift (~30lbs) but as long as you're not over weighted, not using an overly heavy steel tank you should be fine. Other people's opinions on this may vary.
