We love everything about Saba. We've been 3 times since 2014. The first two trips were standard week long dive vacations. The third trip was for 7 weeks in Jan/Feb 2021 working remotely during Covid. We've taken two dive trips a year all over the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Florida Keys in the past 9 years. We thoroughly enjoyed all of them but Saba is the only place we've been to more than once. It really is a special place that we love for everything it is and everything it isn't.
If you're looking for beaches, big resorts, casinos, endless buffets, exciting nightlife, or things like that then you should look elsewhere. If you're looking for great diving, incredible hiking, beautiful landscapes, and the feel of a quaint Dutch town then Saba is the place to go.
The diving is awesome with sites ranging from reef dives starting at 40ish feet to sites on their pinnacles that top out at 80' and go down far below recreational limits.
Above the water is just as incredible as below. There really is almost no flat land on the island. Everything is built into the side of the mountain and every spot has a great view. Besides diving, the next biggest activity on the island is hiking. I'm 6-1 and am significantly over 250lbs now. The last thing you see when you look at me is a hiker. However, even I have made several of the most iconic hikes on the island. There are a couple from the trailhead in the main town of Windwardside that are fairly short (30 minutes one way) and have incredible views.
Sea Saba is the dive operator I'll point you to. They really provide a concierge experience. The dive crew are attentive but not smothering once they check out your dive skills. The staff at the dive shop will handle everything on the island. They'll recommend hikes based on timing and weather. Recommend restaurants as well as make reservations for you. They arrange transportation for diving as well as anywhere else on the island you want to go. I'd recommend staying close to Windwardside when you go. Everything you want or need is within walking distance even though everywhere you go is going to be up hill ... both directions.
Sea Saba does have new owners in the past year. Everything I've seen from social media and heard from people that have dealt with them has been positive. It sounds like they are following the same tradition of top notch customer service that the previous owners practiced for 30ish years.
