Hi everyone,
I'm Shane. I've been diving for just under 3 years and have logged 18 dives. I have just ordered my first set of regs and wrist cpu w/ integrated air(aeris elite t3). I have also ordered a basic spg with the thought of redundancy in mind and afterwards thought that it might be unnecessary.
Am I being too careful in thinking that my cpu might malfunction down the stretch and ill need a spg as backup? Im looking twards the "end" of my training which my goal to go tech and possibly instruct. I also would like some opinions on the Sea Elite Scout bcd. Any wisdom would be appreciated.

Not at all. My buddy removed his SPG when he bought his T3 elite - IIRC I asked him why at the time. He said to streamline his gear. A couple of years ago his battery died on a trip - fortunately the dive shop had one. (on Roatan) Unfortunately he didn't install it correctly and on the next dive his computer flooded. So he aborted the dive and borrowed gauges for the rest of the week. After drying out and a quick dealer check the computer is fine however I noticed this year he has the SPG back on his rig...:D
