New to diving but a total water dork

Hello everyone, I've been a snorkler for many years in fact my name on the board is from the 1st thing I ever found while snorkling in Shell Lake Wisconsin when I was 6 and now want to get into diving. I'm currently in Santa Fe, (don't ask long story), and am going to be making a trip to get PADI certifed in New York. I am really excited about this! Anyway hope you all have a great weekend!

Training up on the North Atlantic seaboard should be a solid background. If we can do it in Maine then why not NY!

Actually will this be a fresh or salt water locale?

pete - nothing wrong with NY. i prefer tropical diving , but that may change with time. my answer when others ask why i don't dive in ny, "don't wanna run into jimmy hoffa's body in the waters here..." but as i stated earlier, that may change with time.

Pete, thanks for the welcome, I plan on learning at Pisces divers in Rochester, (I have a lot of family there. It's fresh water, one of the lake I'm REALLY looking forward to exploring is Canandaigua Lake
