I'm a Fish!
I want to buy a new set of gear that I can use for some enrty level tech classes sometime next year. Nothing real extream, just want to be able to dive a little deeper for a little longer. I was considering the following. Any advice would be helpfull. I could really use some help with a computer choice.

Dive Rite Transpac
Rec EXP 50LBS Wing
16LBS Wieght Pockets
NiTek Trio Computer (Do I need 3 gasses? I thought about getting the NiTek Duo instead)
Scubapro MK25/S600 Reg
Scubapro R190 Octo

Should I be considering Din instead of Yoke?

yes, din not yoke. two regs that are the same, whatever you choose - no 'lesser' octo. transpac is, of course, a personal choice, but why that over a regular plate? until you're planning advanced nitrox/deco procedures, your current computer should be fine. when you do take adv nit/deco proc, a two or three gas computer becomes necessary. are you planning doubles? if you are, there's usually no need for weight pockets. if you aren't, a 50lb wing sounds really big.

i like my nitek, so i think that's a fine pick. what are your plans for classes? that might help drive your choices.

Whatever computer you buy, make sure it has a gauge mode, so you can use it as a bottom timer with tables. Beyond that, it might make sense to wait on buying a multigas computer until you have some idea what kind of deco software you want to run, whether Buhlmann with gradient factors, a bubble model such as VPM, or something else.

DIN regulators are more common in tech diving than yoke, no reason not to go that way unless you'll be traveling and forced to used rental tanks with yoke.

I would suggest the following for single tank configuration. Where in Texas are you from?

-SS bp, hog harness, and Oxycheq shoulder pads: allows you to shed some weight
-18-40# doughnut wing for single tank configuration, and 40-60# double bladder wing for double tanks.
-NiTek Trio computer is a great computer and will suffice as your computer for rec diving, and as 1 bottom timer for tech diving, but you will need a redundant bottom timer. I am looking at purchasing a Liquidvision X-1 next year, this is the shiznit of tec/rec computers.
- the 16# pocket will suffice also. I don't use weight pockets for my single tank setup, but I do have the XS Scuba weight pockets just in case. I also have a set of used 32# pockets, I would be will to sell for $20, plus shipping.
-I am using MK25/A700 as my regs and the reg you are suggesting is a great reg (by some the best reg you can buy), and a lot of tech divers use the MK25/s600. You will need 2 complete regs for double tanks setup, plus deco/stage regs. All your regs should be DIN.
-R190 Octo is a good octo for your single tank configuration.

Another piece of equipment I would recommend is a brass SPG, the large version.
