scubafanatic:......couldn't help but notice you've got 2 octos on your set up ? ? ? ...just wondering .....Karl
covediver:I have one but have only worked with it in the pool. Need to finish rigging it with octo, gages, etc.
How does it work in our cold Alaska waters. Did yuo have much extra bouyancy from the air in the hoses.

scubafanatic:...oh, OK, I see......... I'd half kicked around getting a new Mistral myself, but I'd read numerous reports of free flow issues, both underwater and at the surface, depending on the position of the mouthpiece relative to the first stage, if the mouthpiece is out of the mouth....... so in the end I chose not to buy one....but I can understand it's advantages to someone living/diving in Alaska.

Luis H:Any double hose regulator, when the mouthpiece is out of your mouth and higher than the diaphragm will free flow. This is due to difference in the pressure (water column) from the diaphragm to the open mouthpiece.
I always tuck my mouthpiece under my chin when it is not in my mouth.
Raising the mouthpiece above the diaphragm can be thought as the double hose equivalent as pushing a purge button on a single hose. It can be used to clear the water out of the mouthpiece if you are out of air to blow it clear.
