I held my breath the entire time I typed this post.

OK, I lied. I took my first breath shortly after I typed the letter B andI've been panting ever since!

Watch out, dude. I'm smearing on the cream and the clear and your record will be toast shortly.

Back in the old 420 days 15 minutes was nothing but a buzz.

Any one see where Tom Sietas has broken his breath hold record? More than 15 minutes!! F---in NUTS!

I bet he was a holy terror as a kid. When he'd tell his parents that he'd hold his breath if he didn't get his way. He probably out lasted their patience and won many a battle.:rofl3:

Now that right there is funny!

From what I understand he was just sitting there. I will be more impressed when he makes a 15 minute dive and tags the stern of the Doria or something similar.

Brain damage isn't the issue due to lack of o2, it's the destruction of lung tissue due to co2 build up. In most people your urge to breath is not caused by the lack of oxygen but rather by the build up of co2. When co2 is in solution in the body it forms carbonic acid (lactic acid) and can eat away at tissue. Apparently his breath hold has enough oxygen to sustain him for 15 minutes. The question is whether or not the 15 minute exposure of carbonic acid to his lung tissue is doing damage. Anyway you look at it, it's amazing.

does he just sit/lay there under the water?

Oh that's cool, anyone know the underwater distance record..not depth, but distance?
