Hey all, new diver here, just certified 02/2024 through SSI, by way of the WavesProject.org. I live in the Kansas City area and would like to meet other dive enthusiasts in the area. I recently joined the Midwest Underwater Explorers and looking into doing a GUE fundamentals course this summer. Will also be continuing education through the Waves Project as I want to learn as much as possible and become an instructor. I read the forum often, and appreciate everyone’s willingness to share!

Welcome to the pond

Welcome to the underwater world. I recently met a couple here in the Philippine who previously had a dive shop in Kansas. The nearest water was a 5 hour drive away. That is dedication.

That is correct. Even the lakes here are just a muddy murky mess. Thankfully, I love to travel and it’s another excuse to do so haha

@Bingo13 Welcome to ScubaBoard! Not related to scuba diving, but I lived in the KC area for several years (Parkville to be exact), and my favorite BBQ place is K&M Bar-B-Q in Spring Hill, Kansas. Give them a try if you haven't done so. The places like Gates, Joe's, Arthur Bryant's just didn't do it for me like K&M does.

I’ll have to check them out! I am from NE Arkansas originally, so I’m partial to Memphis style BBQ. Truth-be-told though I’m not turning down any decent BBQ!

Hi guys!
KC has a dive club named the Kansas City Lakers. You can find our official fb page and join. We host get togethers in the area, host dive meets and connect each other with new buddies! We even secured a new dive spot here in the metro.

Glad to have you in MWUE! Let me know if you need recommendations or questions about Fundies or GUE in general.
