Hi! I am new here. My husband and I are taking NAUI courses through a local dive shop in Portland, Maine. We both grew up around the water and are experienced snorkelers. We are going on a cruise at the end of October and decided to get certified for SCUBA. It is something that we have always wanted to do. I decided to purchase my husband lessons for our 2nd wedding anniversary which is Sept. 27th. We start lessons tomorrow evening. I can't wait! The only thing I am nervous about is being cold on our OW dives. The ocean is currently 60F and getting colder! :11:

:sunny Hi there Chrissie! My name is Matt. Welcome to Scuba Board! I came here looking for help with my diving dream. I’ve met a lot of nice divers and many helpful divers too. I think you will get the information you need from SB. I look forward to reading more of your posts about your diving adventures. If you’d like to chat, please PM me.

Hi Chrissie and welcome to Scubaboard! Good luck on your classes. Diving is such a wonderful sport. This board can be a great resource once you're able to find your way around. Most of the divers here a a friendly bunch so don't be shy about asking for help.

hi chrissie,
welcome to scuba board and the wonderful world of diving. theres nothing to worry about as the more you dive, the more diving will come natural to you. just like breathing. the dive shop you are going to ask for joe or the owner and tell them you met nite_diver on the web site as i am a friend of jessie. they should know who you are talking about.
once you get certified and if it is not to late in the season maybe we can hook up and do a dive at nubble light. we all go there and it is not really a bad spot to go to for a dive. there are a lot of beautiful dives here in new england as you will find out the best is yet to come.
on this web site you can always go to new enland lobsters web site and post a message for a dive buddy and find one
any way have fun with the new world upon the two of you and hope to see you soon. you can always p m me if you want to hook up as i go out with a great bunch of people . just ask the dive shop.

Yeah, I thought 72F was cold when I certified, too. I've since enjoyed diving in 50F. Just a matter of the right wetsuit, gloves, booties, and beanie.

Howdy!

I just want to join the others in welcoming you to SB. Hope to get to know you around the forums. Be sure to check out our New Englad and New To Scuba forums.

Completing your Profile and seperately - keeping your Dive Info up to date helps in future diving discussions. PM me if I can help you learn your way around.

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

What a cool anniversary gift! Have lots of fun in you class and don't worry about the cold. You'll probably be so hot getting geared up you'll be glad to jump into some cold water.

Be sure to meet some new dive buddies for when you're certified in our New England Lobsta Divahs forum.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Heya Chrissie and welcome to the Board!!!! I can't help you with the cold factor, but everything else will be fine. What a great gift to give each other. My husband and I really enjoy diving together. It's OUR time and what a great way to spend it. If you have any questions just let one of us know. Please keep us updated on your progress (just make a new thread), also you might want to get your hubby to pick a screen name also, that way we'll know who is whom.

Best Wishes,
Vickie

Welcome to ScubaBoard! I think that you will be able to learn a lot here, and hopefully post about some of your own experiences as well! My name is Kayla, and I have been diving for two years! If you have any questions or problems, or you just want to chat PM me! Otherwise, I hope to get to know you better around the boards! Good luck on your certification, keep us updated on your progress!

Safe diving!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy this great site. I stumbled upon it while searching for some gear, and really enjoy it.

60 degrees is pretty normal diving up here. 70 is like tropical for me. With a 7 mil suit and some gloves, that temperature probably won't even cross your mind except when first getting in.

Welcome
