:crafty: Hi, I am Paul from Hong Kong. My wife and I are planning to go to Maldives in May. Heard that it would be a waste if I don't know diving in Maldives. Joined an Open Water Diving course in HK yestersday and will finish it by end of April.

Divers in Hong Kong say that, because of the "milky" water, Hong Kong is a good place to learn diving... if we can manage the milky water, we can manage sparkling clear water in Maldives.

welcome aboard!

Hey Paul - all the best on your course. The Maldives are a superb dive location. I'm sure you'll love it!

Howdy Paul! :sunny

Welcome to SB!! :happywave Put us in your favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue:

Hello Paul, I am new to the board myself. Welcome! And, good luck with you OW course. There really is a benefit to learning to dive in milky water with limited visibility. The quarry where I had my certification dives averaged about 2 to 5 feet of visability. I found it to be a real benefit!

Whats the water temp there? Sounds like you will not freak when you get silted out! That's good!

Welcome!

Welcome!

Thanks guys for your messages. I have no idea what the water temp is over here. Air temp is about 18 to 22C. Would water temp be about the same?? I read in the Padi OW manual that I should wear a hood in water temperature below 21C. Is that true from your experience??
