Well I'm a happy guy.

Got my LP95 while traveling in Florida at a great price, from Scuba Quest in Orlando, they had it and gave me a little discount, so I bought it.

After looking around ATL there are no LP85 tanks to be found. Everybody says "I can order it for you"....... heck I can order it myself and save money over them plus the 7% tax.

Sometimes I believe that some retailers just don't get it. I'll pay more if you have it, in the store, vs internet.
If you don't have it or won't give me internet pricing if you order it for me, then don't get pissy with me if I order it direct myself.

So the new LP85 is on the way.......... shipping included.

Great cylinder. If can overfill the very best IMO. I agree with you on retail store's inventory desicions. Much revenue is lost by not investing in more working capital...

I am in total agreement with you!

The Faber LP85 arrived today, pretty qucik considering I just ordered it Sat. It goes to the VIP and fill Friday and will get wet on Sat. during our quarry dives.

E-bay purchase and very good date to boot.

Regards,
Bob C.

Love mine. N

Just out of curiosity, what did you pay for it?
I saw one in Sacramento California at Dolphin Scuba on sale for $229.00

I didn't pick it up because I have more tanks than I know what to do with, but I'm just seeing if that's a decent price.

That's a good price, if I were closer, I'd grab it just for the heck of it.

Some info on those steel 85's.
This is what I heard anyway but I don't know if it's 100% true or not.

The LP steel 85 is the exact same tank as the 3442 100. I looked at both in the store and they were identical size. They were also the same exact brand.

I have been told that the 85's are nothing more than 100's that didn't pass the stress test to become 100's so they make them into LP 85's.
The 100's are around $300 and the 85's are $230.
So for the exact same amount of metal, the same valve (except for the burst disc) they are charging $70 more for the 100 just because it holds more air, that's it.

Don't you just love it?

That's absolutely wrong information. What they told you was 100% not true. The 3442psi 100 is made from an entirely different alloy with different heat treating. It may be made on the same tooling but it is a different tank. If you look at the DOT standards for the two tanks, you will see that they couldn't possibly be the same tank with one of them not passing a stress test.

Well there you have it, so now we know.
The dive shops need to be informed of this fact also so they don't continue to pass along false information.
