I keep saying iam going to get certifide but never do. Now that it's summer iam truly ready. About how much does it cost to get set-up? One thing iam worried about are my ears, when i go snorkeling my ears kill me and i hold my nose and blow out like iam told but i cant "pop" my ears. I'm heavily involved in reef aquariums and fishing, now i want to venture onto scuba and spear fishing.

Thanks
James

hey, welcome aboard

you should be able to take your classes, get initial gear (mask, snorkel, fins, weights), and do your
certification dives for about $600 (?) or less, depending on where you live

it's a lot easier to equalize on scuba than snorkeling, and your instructor will cover
this thoroughly. if not, make sure you ask!

Hi and Welcome to SB.com

Equalizing is very important, so you really should see an Ear Nose Throat physician, and then - no matter what he says, call Divers Alert Network for a free phone consultion: 1+800-446-2671. Also talk to a local Instructor who will tell you about different methods he can teach you for this.

Of course, we have a very good Dive Medicine forum here for this, too, but maybe start with this forum: ScubaBoard.Com > Scuba Diving Central> New Divers & Those Considering Diving And don't forget to complete your Profile and Dive Info.

good luck don :cowboy:
